It is a very important element of the quilt, its role is to prevent the down or fibers out of the Nordic. Cotton duvet cover will allow aeration of the quilt and, therefore, not retain moisture. If you chose a natural filling, a percal cotton cover is the best option. On the other hand, the synthetic filling: more accessible in terms of prices, is made of polyester fibers. There are several types of synthetic fibers with different shapes and characteristics: Hollow silicone fibers: they do not allow air to pass, which allows optimal thermal insulation.
The micro-fibers: provide the cotton duvet cover with a cushion similar to natural fibers. In addition, they are warmer and more comfortable than other fibers. It is true that synthetic quilts have a better quality / price ratio than natural quilts, but their life is much shorter: 5 years on average.
It is also essential for the cotton duvet cover as it prevents the heat from dissipating. In the case of a natural Nordic, a stitching in the form of parceled squares is the best: it will provide a uniform distribution of the filling in the Nordic cover. For synthetic quilts, the best thing is a quilted stitching: it will improve the thermal insulation and Nordic quilting.
